WIENERBERGER – planting trees around workplaces
Planting trees around workplaces benefits employe
Planting trees around workplaces not only enhances the aesthetics of the space, but also affects the health of employees, improving their well-being and reducing stress. Studies show that natural surroundings promote better concentration and efficiency at work, which translates into higher quality of tasks performed. However, the greening of areas around workplaces is first and foremost important for the environment. The presence of plants and green spaces supports local biodiversity, creating an environment conducive to the life of various plant and animal species.
Planting trees around workplaces also supports local biodiversity
Wienerberger, as part of its sustainability strategy, is implementing a Biodiversity Program that covers the sites of all group production facilities. Our Time for the Forest program is an excellent support and complement to the initiative planned by Wienerberger. As part of our multi-stage cooperation with Wienerberger, we have carried out a number of environmentally supportive actions. In September this year, we helped plan and finalize a campaign to plant trees, perennials and shrubs on the Honoratka production site.
During the campaign, 27 large trees were planted at the Honoratka production site together with Wienerberger volunteers:
In addition, the plant area was enriched with 85 perennials, 10 bushes of common buckthorn and Clematis climbers. In the vicinity of the reception area, bulbs of flowers such as narcissus, crocus, sapphires have found their place, which will delight in the spring. A floral meadow, which has been prepared right at the entrance, will also decorate the site.
The undertaking was quite a challenge due to the size and weight of the trees to be planted, but a solid team of 30 Wienerberger volunteers and foundation staff efficiently completed the task.
An excellent complement to the tree planting campaign are ornithological workshops
The workshop on building nesting boxes for birds is an excellent complement to the tree planting campaign. Newly planted plants will provide great support for biodiversity and attract many animals. Providing shelter for animals multiplies the effectiveness of environmental activities. Therefore, as part of the action at the Honoratka site, volunteers independently built nesting boxes for birds. The event was also enriched with factual knowledge on topics related to the activities undertaken and practical advice useful for plant care.
