Medtronic – planting trees to support biodiversity, in Wieliszew municipality

Every day, Medtronic employees design and improve medical devices that support the health of patients around the world. This time, in cooperation with our foundation, they took care of the health of our planet by planting trees to support biodiversity.

Planting trees for the health of our planet

Diverse ecosystems are of great importance to our health. Biodiversity is not only about clean air, water and food, elements essential for human life. The role that biodiversity plays in the medical industry is very important. It is biodiversity that provides us with access to many valuable chemical compounds used in medicine, such as for the production of drugs. Through the study of ecosystems, we are building more and more knowledge about how the world and ourselves function. By observing the complexity of nature, new therapies are also being designed, which then help a wide range of conditions.

Planting trees with a company that cares about our health

Our partner at the event in Wieliszew was Medtronic, a global leader in advanced medical technology. It offers solutions to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic conditions and provides innovative devices in areas such as cardiology, neurology, surgery and diabetes.

Planting trees to support biodiversity

One simple strategy to promote biodiversity and reduce the expansion of alien invasive species is to plant native tree species. These species pose a serious threat to native wildlife.

With the aim of supporting native wildlife and fighting invasive species, together with Medtronic volunteers we planted 1000 native tree species. These activities took place in the municipality of Wieliszew. The action was aimed at improving the local ecosystem. Despite the high temperature and challenging working conditions, the participants were committed to the challenge. Regardless of the weather, outdoor movement surrounded by greenery always brings positive effects on health and well-being. Therefore, we hope that the participants of the action, despite their fatigue, felt relaxed and satisfied after completing the undertaking

Thanks to this action, the area of the Wieliszew municipality has gained solid support for local nature. In time, the area will be able to turn into a beautiful, biodiverse forest that will support the fight against the negative effects of global climate change.

Nature workshop – Kokedama

At the end of the campaign, participants took part in a workshop to create Kokedamy. During the workshop they created beautiful plant balls. It was a great opportunity to learn new skills in gardening and aesthetics, combining art and nature. Participants learned techniques for forming balls from moss and soil. They learned which plants are best suited for this form of cultivation. Through this workshop they gained new skills in creating unique plant decorations. Such workshops are also a great opportunity to relax and develop their creativity.
