Aeris Futuro Foundation – we planted a symbolic oak tree in the center of Wieliczka
City tree planting campaign – Wieliczka residents and authorities took part in the symbolic planting of a Jacenty oak tree, commemorating the transfer of the Aeris Futuro Foundation to the city.
We celebrated the relocation of our headquarters!
On Saturday, November 16, together with the residents of Wieliczka – from the youngest to the slightly older – we planted a beautiful native oak tree. As a result of the vote, it was given the unusual name Jacenty. This is a symbolic gesture and our gift to the local community, with the hope that the new green resident of the city will be cared for and liked.
Planting trees in the city is a benefit for residents
Trees in cities play an extremely important role in supporting the fight against the negative effects of global climate change and improving the comfort of residents. They offer soothing shade and lower air temperatures, and can reduce the energy required for cooling and heating buildings. Trees are natural air filters, effectively reducing smog, which harms both physical and mental health. Urban greenery also helps alleviate stress, improves mood, and even promotes building social relationships and reducing crime. In addition, trees in cities reduce the risk of flooding and waterlogging by absorbing water through their roots and slowing surface runoff. In conclusion – trees and greenery in the city bring so many benefits that it is worth regularly raising awareness in local communities.
Planting trees in the city with the support of local communities is also a form of education and integration
The action of planting an oak tree in Wieliczka was attended by local residents, but also by representatives of the city authorities: Rafał Ślęczka – Mayor of Wieliczka City and Commune, and Lucjan Rówiński – Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs, whom we would like to thank for finding a place and allowing this action.
The meeting was highlighted by snacks prepared by vegetarian catering PoTRAVA: aromatic acorn coffee, acorn cookies and a delightful carrot cake that won the hearts of participants. In addition, everyone could take home seeds of a flower meadow or acorns of a native oak tree, which can be planted if only in a pot. There were also creative attractions – those willing could build nesting boxes for birds with their own hands, which they will later hang in selected places.
We sincerely thank you for your presence and support. We look forward to implementing more green initiatives!
We are also extremely pleased by the great interest in choosing a name for a new resident of Wieliczka. We believe that the Jacenty Oak will grow healthily and will soon provide shade and coolness on hot days, reminding us all how important green is in our surroundings.
