On June 6-7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Aeris Futuro Foundation, the Sendzimir Foundation, Żywa Pracownia, the Village Council in Łętownia and the Jordanów Commune Office invite you to celebrate World Environment Day and participate in the LET’S MAKE OUR GARDEN workshops at the Regional Chamber in the center of Łętownia near the forester’s lodge.
The program includes planting herbs, flowers, shrubs and trees traditional to rural gardens, learning to weave wicker, and an injection of knowledge about the important role of biodiversity for nature and humans. Participation is free of charge. Old and young are welcome to join in.
“Herbal corners, flowery meadows, elements of traditional wooden architecture are disappearing before our eyes”. – Joanna Mieszkowicz, president of the Aeris Futuro Foundation, tells us. “Communities are cutting themselves off from tradition, from what has always been in harmony with nature – these are sadly sad conclusions, so I decided to implement a project that would bring at least a little closer to the natural heritage of the region. Because can a person like a tree live without roots?”
The event is part of World Environment Day, which has been celebrated every June 5 since 1972. This year’s theme is “Connecting People to Nature.” More information here.
The workshop is the culmination of the REVITALIZATION OF THE AREA AROUND THE REGIONAL CHAMBER IN ŁĘTOWNIA, implemented as part of the project “Joint Actions for Biodiversity” subsidized by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, thanks to which the area around the Chamber has been cleared of debris, and in this place we will jointly create a pleasant place of rest and education for residents and tourists.
